Hymenoplasty is the reconstruction of the hymen, resulting in the dissolution of any evidence of trauma. Nouvelle Confidence (NC) puts the needs and concerns of its patients first and foremost. The purpose of a hymenoplasty is to repair and reconstruct the hymen, a thin membrane that partially covers the opening to the vagina, to a “pre-sexual” state. The hymen typically tears during the first time a woman has sexual intercourse, and often a small amount of bleeding occurs. Some women unknowingly tear the hymen through activities such as tampon use, and other rigorous sports. Some women break their hymen without realizing it.
The desire to undergo a hymenoplasty is often fueled by cultural, ethnic or religious motivation, or for individual cases of incest, child abuse or rape. NC is very sensitive to the needs of women from cultures that embrace these particular beliefs or who have had an abusive history.
Hymenoplasty is completed in less than an hour, allowing the patient to resume normal, non-strenuous activities within several days. Consultations and gynecological exams are required prior to surgery at NC. Patients are asked to describe the reason for wanting the procedure and the results they are hoping for. Hymen restoration is performed as an in-office procedure, under local anesthesia, in the privacy of our procedure room. Privacy and confidentiality are highly respected.
